MAKE MUSIC, NOT WAR!

B2 Club. "Levitation"

On December 7, 2007, the Lab did a joint gig with one of the greatest musicians of our time Tony Levin. Several musicians appeared on the stage that evening as well: didgeridoo player Joseph "Jovis" Bubrowski, Artem Yakushenko (electric violin, mandolin), Sergey Klevensky (wind instruments), Boris Nazarov (percussion programming, special effects), Djagannat (tabla), Evgenia Tedjetova (vocals), and Pavel Mikhailuk (didgeridoo, jew's harp, vocals). There were some pleasant surprises: the musicians were joined by the members of the world-renowned guttural signing Tuva band Huun Huur Tu Kaigal-ool Hovalyg and Sayan Bapa. At the very end during the encore performance Alexander Cheparukhin (GreenWave Music) replaced percussionist Jagannat, and the musicians played what could be called a true celebration of the "natural trance" style. Editing of the recorded performance is currently under way, and when released, the DVD will be released on Citadel Records.

"Labotomia" program

On November 4, 2007, the Moscow Forte jazz club hosted a unique concert titled Labotomia. The Labotomia participants, such as violinist Artem Yakushenko, bass player Sergey "Grebstel" Kalachev and keyboard player Arkady Marto, were joined by jazz saxophonist George Brooks and the legendary multi-percussionist Pete Lockett. For two hours the musicians created a magical-hypnotic atmosphere in the room, elaborately improvising on the basic material prepared by the Russian musicians. In the second part of the concert the musicians were joined by the Goatika's conceptual leader Pavel Mikhailuk, who played hang drum (connected metal hemispheres with a specific resonating sound). The concert was definitely a success and, according to the grateful audience, turned out to be quite warm and sincere. A DVD of the concert will be released in the near future.
